研究、编纂、发布优选靠前份《世界可持续发展报告》，依据靠前惯例分别以“主题篇（理论）、指标篇（方法）、统计篇（定量）、分析篇（规则）”四大部分作为报告的总框架。拟定独立主题作出深入的理论阐释（展示研究实力）；设计具有中科院特色的指标体系（独特的评价标准）；采用具有性的联合国统计局、世界银行和UNDP提供的三大数据来源，完成逐年动态式的统计图表；提炼规律性机理，突出世界可持续发展领域中的中国学派。
